Research Ethics Committee Accreditation Process

This section outlines the steps and requirements for accrediting a Research Ethics Committee (REC) at your institution. It details the administrative, financial, and operational procedures for a smooth accreditation process.

Administrative and Financial Requirements:

  1. Official Accreditation Request: Your institution must submit a formal letter to the Egyptian Network of  Research Ethics Committees (ENREC), under the auspices of the Egyptian Society for Health Care Development, to initiate the REC accreditation process.

  2. Accreditation Fee: A non-refundable accreditation fee is payable via deposit into the Society's account.

  3. Accreditation Team Visit Expenses: Your institution is responsible for covering the travel and accommodation expenses (for one night, depending on distance from Greater Cairo) of the accreditation team for the on-site visit.

Operational Accreditation Process:

  1. Accreditation Guidelines: We will provide your committee with the latest version of the accreditation guide, including a detailed evaluation form to facilitate thorough preparation.

  2. Evaluation Form Completion: Your committee must complete the evaluation form and compile all required supporting documentation as outlined in the guidelines.

  3. File Review: The complete accreditation file must be submitted to the accreditation team for review and evaluation.

  4. On-Site Visit: Following the file review, the accreditation team will conduct an on-site visit to directly assess your committee's operations and procedures.

  5. Visit Report: The accreditation team will prepare a comprehensive report summarizing the visit findings, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and specifying any required corrections or additional information.

  6. Response to Feedback: Your committee must address all inquiries and implement any necessary corrections identified in the visit report.

  7. Final Accreditation Decision: Upon satisfactory completion of all steps, the accreditation team will make a final decision regarding the accreditation of your REC.

This process ensures that your institution's REC meets the highest standards of research ethics, promoting integrity, transparency, and research excellence.
